About Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ Classes
If you're looking for a way to engage your preschool age child in an activity that is fun and educational then Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ classes are it. Through age appropriate art instruction and arts and crafts exploration your child will develop more than just their creativity. Fine motor skill development, social interaction, and self esteem are all benefits of attending a PRPS™ class.
Preschool Rock Paper Scissors™ classes are designed for children 3 to 5 years of age. The children, along with an accompanying parent, meet weekly for a 60-minute class for a total of four sessions. The class focuses on age appropriate art instruction and projects, exposure to a variety of arts and crafts mediums, a little art history and theory, and completion of a craft project to take home. Children are also allowed to express themselves creatively at the Arts & Crafts Exploration Table.
Classes are taught by a licensed educator whose goal is to create an environment where your preschool age child can explore and develop his/her own creativity in a non-competitive, relaxing manner. From sculpting clay to mosaics, the emphasis is on the creative process, not the final product. There is no wrong or right way, pride in accomplishment is what we strive for.
Two tables will be ready when you arrive, one for structured arts and craft time and the other for Arts & Crafts Exploration. Children are not forced to participate in the group project. If your child is not comfortable in the group, he/she can move on to the Exploration Table to work on a project of their liking. Or, if your child feels more comfortable with you by their side, you are more than welcome to assist your preschooler with the group craft.
Your child will not only be developing his/her fine motor skills and creativity but social and developmental skills as well. The educator lead, group setting exposes children to experiences such as taking turns, learning patience, expressing their ideas, self esteem, decision making, listening, following directions, and how to clean up.
Classes are designed to let preschool age children:
• Explore a variety of tools, materials, and techniques
• Constructively focus their energy
• Develop language and social skills in a group setting
• Work along side their peers and learn by example
• Learn to cooperate with other children
• Enjoy creating in their own way and take pride in their creations
Parents will leave the class with a booklet full of ideas and tips for incorporating arts and crafts into their child's daily routine.
